The world appears to be falling apart but you’ll stay and watch it with me, right?

Acrylic on canvas, 12 x 24
If there was a certainty of the world ending tomorrow, would you try to fight it? Would you build an underground bunker and hide? Would you get into a car and attempt driving somewhere “safe”?
Or would you search out the greatest view for the inevitable?

Sometimes I feel like I don’t quite fit into my surroundings.
Acrylic on cardboard, 11.5 x 13
I have an occasional difficulty hearing. A friend asked, “How are you feeling, for real?” I heard, “What are you feeling, surreal?” And yes, sometimes I do feel surreal, and sometimes I relate my life to absurd metaphors, and sometimes those metaphors are about symbols of death contemplating emotions in a field of flowers. And sometimes I go on rants about my own thoughts. And sometimes I wish other people would do that, because what is the point of expressing yourself if it’s never really yourself that you are expressing?

It is indeed finished- but really, is anything actually complete?
Acrylic on canvas, 14 x 18
This piece is one that I’ve had around for a while but only recently felt it’s potential had been reached. For some reason, I could not add anymore color than what is on there, but I knew it had to be more than a black and white piece. The “portrait” is very cropped and hopefully resonates as much of a mysterious narrative as it has for me.

Because the smaller you try to make me, the bigger my dreams will grow.

Acrylic on canvas, 24 x 18
There’s something to be said for those few who aren’t afraid to let their true colors show. Facing fears, whether those fears are of the future or of spiders, they are still part of life and should be embraced rather than avoided.

Ya know, eye just really enjoy colors (and terrible puns).

Acrylic on canvas, 14 x 11
I’ve been thinking a lot about the repetition and patterns of mandalas versus “free form” painting lately. Both seem to represent a stream of conscious- with mandalas, it is more of a meditation working from the inside out. With free form, it’s almost as though the brush knows what is on your mind before you do.

This poster design is inspired by Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.” The lyrics, which are repeated in the background with high transparency, include the line “We’re just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year.” I’m not sure why this song speaks to me so strongly, but perhaps that is a deeper personality analysis for a later time.

A lesson can be learned from a walk in the woods.
Sometimes there are perfectly growing patches of grass right there by the water in the sunlight. But sometimes there are shaded areas covered in rock and frequently stepped on. In those areas, grass of a different kind can be found.
These patches are a bit thicker and not as soft. These patches are the ones that had to work to where they are. They stand strong for they know how life can be full of struggles and obstacles, but those can be overcome.
These tuffs are exactly that, tough. It takes a certain kind of work, a certain kind of dedication, a certain kind of toughness to fully appreciate and succeed in this world. If a patch of grass can comprehend and act on that, there is no reason we cannot do the same.

Handmade seashells

Plaster, concrete, acrylic paint

Natural beauty is something I find very intriguing. This is something that goes not only for a person’s appearance, but all objects made by nature. Everything and everyone is made from what the world has done. In regards to these shells, I have attempted to recreate this beauty but have failed. There is nothing that I can do, as a person, to create such beauty as the originals. As an artist, as a person, I can merely attempt to recreate.
